Queensland Ambulance Service History and Heritage

Commissioner’s Message

The people of Queensland value their heritage and history. Preservation and conservation of our heritage and history is a principle to which the Queensland Ambulance Service is strongly committed.

I am delighted with the dedication and commitment from all staff and local ambulance committee members to preserving the history of Queensland ambulance.

Our heritage and history engenders great pride in our service and great respect for our past, throughout which strong community support for ambulance services has always been a feature.

To understand this better, I commend you to visit one or all of our museum sites which are located at Wynnum, Charters Towers and also at the Workers Heritage Centre in Barcaldine.  Our volunteers and staff are constantly developing these sites to present the stories and images of ambulance in Queensland over time.
