ACAP Scientific Poster Grant - $2,000
This grant, sponsored by the Australian College of Ambulance Professionals (ACAP), is offered by the KJ McPherson Education & Research Foundation to encourage paramedic students at participating universities to strive for excellence during their course.
A grant of $2,000 will be provided to assist the student/s to further their clinical studies, competencies and or general ambulance knowledge.
Grant recipient/s are shortlisted by a participating university.
The final selection is then made through a competitive assessment process by a panel constituted by the KJM Foundation.
The winner of this grant will be a student/s from a participating university.
Poster Preparation Guidelines
Each participating university agrees to conduct clinical assessments at the end of Year 2 or 3, Semester II in their Bachelor of Paramedic Studies program. This assessment will be in the form of a scientific poster presentation and related abstract based on the semester paramedic clinical studies. Each university will select the five best posters/abstracts and submit the names of those selected for final KJM Foundation assessment in the last week of October annually.
Poster Presentation
A short list of five posters will then be selected for display at the KJM Foundation Patron’s Day Clinical Symposium. The winning poster/s will be identified at this display. The winner/s will be invited to the symposium to present on their poster during the symposium lunch break.
Poster abstracts should follow these guidelines. For presentation purposes at the symposium, posters should reflect the following recommended specifications:
Size - 1.2 metres high by 0.9 metres wide
Materials – Laminated paper or cardboard
Poster Text – Core text should be approximately 16-20 point for easy reading at a distance of 1.5m
Best Poster Grant
Each poster selected for the symposium will be judged on presentation and scientific merit by the KJM Foundation panel. The winning author/s is required to give an oral poster presentation at the symposium and will be notified of this expectation in writing.
Poster Themes
The preferred poster themes are Ambulance Educational, Clinical or Operational Systems. The actual poster title should be sufficiently clear to reflect which theme/s is being addressed.
