KJM Patron's Day
KJM Patron’s Day is an annual event including a Clinical Symposium and a Patron's Dinner. This is a significant paramedic professional event in the ambulance calendar.
The overall aim of KJM Patron’s Day is to promote research and evidence based best practice in ambulance services.
The Clinical Symposium is primarily designed for Paramedic Managers. Presentations of results of current world recognised research in to topics such as combative patients, e-health strategies, cardio vascular conditions and trauma, vulnerable patients will be presented by relevant experts. Also hear about exciting research being conducted Queensland paramedics.
The Symposium aims to promote the value of quality research in providing best practice pre hospital care to ambulance managers.
The Symposium is supported by the Patron of the KJ McPherson Education & Research Foundation, Major General Professor John Pearn, who is an internationally recognised surgeon, author and teacher. MajGen Pearn has served as past Surgeon-General of the Australian Defence Force. Other eminent medical professionals and paramedic practitioners are also presenting papers.
In the evening the Patron's Dinner will be held where the Patron’s Research Grant of $15,000 will be awarded along with three other awards.
The Patron's Dinner is an important formal event following the Clinical Symposium promoting the Foundation and its research contribution.
At the Patron's Dinner the Foundation Patron will announce the recipient of the Patron’s Research Grant ($15000) and the Annual KJ McPherson Education & Research Foundation awards (totaling $5,000). These are all provided by the Foundation and provide opportunities for paramedics to undertake research in line with the QAS and the Foundations goals.
The theme of the evening focuses on the future challenges of ambulance services in Queensland, and celebrates the respect the Service has won from the international and national community as a best practice organisation. The partnership with the KJ McPherson Education & Research Foundation provides significant research grants signifying the way forward to better clinical practice.
