Response to VisiCAD outage

19/06/2008 12:30:08 PM

The Department of Emergency Services is currently implementing one of the nation’s most innovative despatch systems called VisiCAD. The new system will link all existing Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Queensland Ambulance Service’s communications centres with a single state-of-the-art computer aided dispatch system.

Late yesterday the system experienced an outage for approximately 90 minutes where it was necessary for operators to resort back to a manual system. The cause of this outage was related to a maintenance issue, not the system.

To date there have been no reports of any significant impact on service delivery to the community.

The Department has full confidence in the new system which is designed to assist both QFRS and QAS Communication Officers identify the fastest and most appropriate response to an incident. It will also enhance data integrity and standardisation of service delivery.

The system is currently being rolled out around the state.
