North Coast Region

The North Coast Region covers the coastal areas from Bundaberg to the Sunshine Coast and inland to the North and South Burnett. The Burnett Coast, Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast continue to experience rapid population growth. These areas attract increasing tourist numbers as well as retirees and families relocating to the sub-tropical climate. The rural population of the Burnett area remains stable. The Region is serviced by 31 permanent stations and two additional stations at Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island, that are active during all holiday periods.

The Sunshine Coast Helicopter Rescue Service operates rotary wing aerial ambulance services from Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast.  All rotary wing emergency responses are crewed by Paramedics (Intensive Care).

Local Ambulance Committees

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is a community based, client focused organisation. Since 1991 Local Ambulance Committees (LACs) were formed to ensure the ambulance service stays in touch with the people it serves. LACs are made up of volunteer members who provide feedback to the North Coast Region on its performance and on community issues relating to ambulance services in the region. LACs manage funds that they raise locally and ensure those funds remain in the community and benefit the local ambulance service.

Twenty-nine LACs are located throughout the region.  Your LAC would welcome your interest.  To find your local LAC, please download the List of North Coast Region LACs.  Please note that Adobe Reader, downloadable for free, is required to view this document.  The document is in PDF format and is 52Kb in size, taking an estimated 10 seconds to download using a 56.6k modem.
