Our Commercial Services
Northern Region of the QAS provides specialised services to businesses, industry and the community, including first aid training, dedicated services to industrial sites, and standby at sporting and other major events. We also provide a service of the hire and fitting of baby capsules (Note: links to the main website).
A further specialised service is that of taking calls for the after-hours general practice service in Townsville. This service utilises the existing infrastructure, staff and protocols of the Ambulance Communications Centre. A 1800 number can be called by persons requiring medical assistance, and our Communications staff take the call and use the existing systems to prioritise the call and either transfer the call to the on-call medical practitioner or send ambulance assistance.
As well as our first aid training for the public and industry, more specialised advanced training is provided by the Staff Development Unit in Townsville to the divers undertaking diver training at the local company, The Dive Bell. This course provides advanced skills in first aid and use of first aid equipment, of specialised knowledge and skill in dealing with diving medical emergencies, and also provides experience in the hospital emergency department and as an observer with an ambulance paramedic crew.
The Northern Region of the QAS is always examining and reviewing ways of further assisting the community, local business and industry.
