Our Funding Base
The Queensland Ambulance Service receives State Government funding, of which the Northern Region receives a proportion. In addition, the Region undertakes strategies and activities to provide additional funding to aid in service delivery to the communities it serves.
Other activities from which the region derives income are:
- Dedicated service to industrial sites, eg Mount Isa Mines and Phosphate Hill Fertilizer Plant
- Community Education, eg conduct of First Aid training for public and industry
- Baby Capsule Hire Service
- Specialized training, eg to Dive Bell
- Standby at sporting and other major public events
- Management of calls for the After Hours GP Service in Townsville
All funding generated by the region stays in the Region to benefit our communities and support operational delivery within the region. Funding may be used on training, provision of equipment and vehicles, repairs and maintenance or other required services and expenses.
