Organisational Overview
The Northern Region of the QAS is divided into two areas geographically – the Coastal Area based on Townsville, and the Western Area based on Mount Isa. For operational management, the Region is divided into the Coastal Area, Western Area and Communications. A Manager is responsible for each of these sections. Each manager reports to the Assistant Commissioner, and has a reporting chain of Officers in Charge or Supervisiors who work with them on operational and administrative issues.
The Assistant Commissioner is located at the Regional Office in Townsville. In addition to the operational managers, Regional Support staff include a Regional Business and Finance Manager, a Marketing Manager, Project Officer in charge of Asset Management, Regional Support Officer in charge of Rehabilitation and Health and Safety, and a Staff Development Unit. All of these staff report to the Assistant Commissioner.
