2014 Working for Queensland Employee Opinion Survey Report

Subject: Release of sector wide 2014 Working for Queensland Employee Opinion Survey Report
All QAS Staff
I would like to thank you again for your participation in the Working for Queensland Employee Opinion Survey, conducted between 5 and 30 May this year.
In addition to our own Survey report (http://www.psc.qld.gov.au/publications/workforce-statistics/assets/2014_WFQ_reports/Queensland_Ambulance_Service.pdf), the sector wide 2014 Working for Queensland Survey Report has been published on the Public Service Commission website.
This year more than 90 000 employees took the opportunity to have their voices heard through the survey. This represents a 42 per cent response rate.
In general, the report demonstrates that employees are more positive about their jobs and their workplaces compared to results from the 2013 survey, with improvements highlighted across all factors measured by the survey.
The QAS achieved improvement from 2013’s results across the majority of the workplace factors that were measured. Our results indicate we perceive there has been a significant improvement in areas such as role clarity and goal alignment, workgroup collaboration and perceptions of workplace change.
While overall the results are pleasing, there are still areas for improvement. I envisage that we will actively contribute to improving these results through QAS’s actions.
To date, all LASN Managers have been provided with results of the Employee Opinion Survey and have commenced action planning with staff, celebrating positive improvements since 2013 and working through areas requiring further consideration. I also provided an update to staff as per the attached email.
I encourage any staff who would like any further detail on the results of the Employee Opinion Survey or the action being taken within your LASN to contact your LASN Manager.
The survey continues to be an important measure of employee perceptions on a range of workplace factors. It also assists us in tracking our performance and progress towards meeting our goal of being the most respected and responsive public service in the nation. The next survey will be conducted by the Public Service Commission in late April/early May 2015.
I encourage you to review the sector wide report and thank you for continued commitment to making Queensland Ambulance Service a great place to work.
Regards,
Russell Bowles ASM
